  • Q. When can I arrive/depart?

    A. You can arrive at any time and on any day of the week. Check in is from 2pm. If you arrive early we will be pleased to store your luggage until your room is ready so you can start enjoying our lodge facilities. Please note that we charge 25€ for late arrivals after 11pm. Check out is by 11am. 

     

     

  • Q. Where is Tiny Whale Surf Lodge?

    A. We are located in Sargaçal, a small village in the countryside near Lagos (5 km).

     

    Q. Are there shops and restaurants nearby?

    A. There is a cafe within walking distance which serves simple food in the small village of Sargacal. For groceries & lots of restaurants and cafes you have to go to Lagos, a ten minute drive from Sargaçal. There are plenty of grocery shops, pharmacies and supermarkets selling all your essentials. 

     

    Q. How do I get to Lagos?

    A. We can arrange taxi’s that bring you in less than 10 minutes to the town centre and beaches (7€). There is also a local bus to Lagos.

     

  • Q. Do you supply towels?

    A. Bath towels but not beach towels. Please bring your own beach towel or rent at reception for 5€.

  • Q. Do you supply linen?

    A. Yes, fresh linen is provided for free.

     

  • Q. Do you offer car parking?

    A. Car parking is onsite and free of charge.

     

  • Q. Are you flexible in regards to dates & length of stay? 

    A. We are very flexible! Our bookings team customises packages based on your request. You can arrive any day the week, our minimum stay is 3 nights. Our packages are based on 7 nights but you can stay shorter or longer as well. 

  • Q. I have never surfed before, are the surf lessons appropriate for beginners?

    A. Don't worry if this is your first time surfing, our highly experienced team of surf instructors will give you the confidence and training to take your first steps and have you up and surfing in no time. With two coastlines to explore we almost always find fun sized waves that are perfect for beginners.

     

    We also offer intermediate and advanced coaching for people who'd like to progress in surfing including video analysis. 

     

  • Q. How long are the lessons?

    A. A surf day includes two 1.5-2 hour lessons with professional coaches. 

  • Q. Do you offer a beach transfer service?

    A. We offer beach transfers for 25€ a day, which includes a ride to the best surf spot for the conditions and lunch. It is important to note that beach transfers do not include supervision and is for more advanced surfers only. 

  • Q. Are evening dinners included?

    A. Dinners are not included but we have an incredible chef who loves cooking! His evening meals and weekly BBQ are a real highlight for our guests. We can provide 5 evening meals per week, allowing for alternate nights out to explore the local area.

    Dinner pack €90 per week - This includes 4 x 2 course dinners with wine and a luxury BBQ with endless Sangria. If your stay is less than a week to purchase individually, a 2 course meal is €17,50 per person and a BBQ is €20 per person. Dinner is in-house: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

     

    Q. What food can I expect?

    A. Healthy food, made with fresh products. An extensive breakfast is included in the room price. All surf packages include a lunch. We also organise inhouse dinner nights four times per week and a weekly BBQ. In the garden we have a bar where you can buy cold drinks and snacks after your long surf day.

     

  • Q. Can I use the kitchen to cook?

    A, Guests do not have access to the kitchen or fridges.

     

  • Q. Do you cater for special diets?

    A. We try as much as possible to provide food for our guests with special diets (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc.). Please let us know in advance.

  • Q. Do you arrange airport transfers?

    A. We can book discounted airport transfers from/to Faro Airport. Please provide us with your flight details at least 3 days before arrival/departure. All transfers operate 24 hours per day.

     

    Pricing:

    Shared Shuttle: 27€ each way per person

    Private Taxi (up to 4 ppl): 88€ each way

    Private Mini Bus (up to 8 ppl): 96€ each way

     

    If you are bringing your own board, we need to book a Private Mini Bus.

     

  • Q. Can I bring my own surfboard?

    A. Please book a private transfer minibus if bringing a surfboard.

  • Q. Do I need to pre-book activities? 

    A. In summer months it is recommended to pre-book your surf & kite lessons as we can get quite busy. Our team of friendly hosts can assist with booking all your other activities upon arrival. 

  • Q. Can I bring my children?

    A. Children of all ages are welcome. Kids up to 5 years old sleeping in their parents room stay for free. For the youngest we have travel cots available for 25€. Kids from 5 till 15 pay a small fee of 10€ per day.

     

  • Q. What is the average age of your guests?

    A. The average age of our travelers varies. We have a combination of solo travellers, couples, families and groups of friends which provides a healthy mix of guests in their 20’s, 30's, 40's and older.

     

  • Q. What is the weather like?

    A. The Algarve has mild winters and hot summers. Summers are particularly dry and sunny with 12 hours of sunshine each day and an average maximum temperature of 28ºC and minimum of 20ºC. Winters are very mild. Spring and Autumn are great seasons to visit as the temperatures are an average of 22ºC with still lots of sun. Portugal is an all year round destination for great surf.

     

  • Q. What clothing do I need to bring?

    A. Bring your summer clothes but also a warm jacket and sweater for the evening and early morning. Don’t forget your yoga clothes, beach towel and suncream.

     

     

  • Q. Is Tiny Whale Lodge suitable for solo travellers?

    A. We get a lot of people who visit Tiny Whale on their own and have a brilliant time. We offer a very social atmosphere and you’ll be making new friends in no time.
